Flameseeker Chronicles: Guild Wars 2's Lost Shores recap

I won't be the first one to point this out, but almost as annoying as his eagerness to tell the citizens of Tyria about his new tourist destination (he was so eager that he actually interrupted himself -- constantly) was Subdirector Blingg's use of the phrase "most unique."

No idea what I'm talking about? Then you likely didn't get a lot of hands-on time with Guild Wars 2 over the weekend. While Southsun Cove and the Fractals of the Mists are still around for your enjoyment, you missed out on the Lost Shores event itself.

Some people will dispute whether or not you actually "missed out." They'd argue, I suppose, that there wasn't a ton of missing out to do. We differ on that point. Anyway, jump below the cut to catch the skinny on this weekend in in Guild Wars 2: the good, the unfortunate, and the maddening.

This weekend seems to have been a very mixed bag. When things were going right, they were going fabulously right. When things were going wrong, you couldn't use skills, see your enemies, or talk to people in your party. I don't know if "fabulously wrong" is really the sort of phrase to use there, but it comes to mind.

Guild Wars 2: Leah Rivera on the New Fractals of the Mist Dungeon

From the Guild Wars 2 official website news, Leah Rivera has talk about the New Fractals of the Mist Dungeon, let see what he has talked.

Quote
My team has a mission.
A mission to bring all of you an awesome, high-end dungeon experience that will be challenging, rewarding, and a ton of fun! After a lot of long hours and hard work, I think we’ve accomplished that goal. I’m proud to introduce to you our new dungeon: Fractals of the Mists!

This dungeon is unlike anything you’ve played in Guild Wars 2. It’s built of an array of mini-dungeons, which we call fractals. These fractals are slices of the Mists, fragments of time that have been stabilized by the intrepid asura researcher Dessa. Some of these vignettes from history may be familiar to original Guild Wars players, while others will represent previously unseen events. Because of their eclectic origin, each fractal is built as a distinct, separate experience with themes, mechanics, and art specific to that fractal.

You access the Fractals of the Mist by gathering your party of five in Lion’s Arch and entering a new asura gate (seen below).

Unlike the other dungeons, your party can be any level. We’ve employed World vs. World-style sidekicking to make this dungeon accessible to all players. But keep in mind, our aim was to challenge level 80 gw2 gold players. Going in at low levels is not for the faint of heart!

Once you enter the portal you’ll be taken to the Mistlock Observatory, a safe haven created by Dessa within the Mists. From there you’ll start your first round of fractals. You’ll be sent to three randomly chosen destinations and once you’ve vanquished all three of these fractals, you’ll be brought back to the Mistlock Observatory hub to rest and regroup. On top of that, every other round before you return to the hub you’ll be faced with a bonus “boss fractal.” Here, you will face an encounter akin to our big world bosses!

Seems simple, right? Well, there’s one last mechanic that makes this dungeon unique.

To make Fractals of the Mist even more challenging, every time you re-visit the hub, the dungeon scales up in difficulty. That’s right, a scaling dungeon! The dungeon will remember your progress, and will poll the party’s levels when you enter, scaling the dungeon to the highest common attained level. It’s a true challenge, but as you hit higher and higher scales, the dungeon will get more and more rewarding. You’ll have to have some serious skills and solid tactics to make it through these Fractals. After a certain point, our new Ascended items and Infusions become crucial tools for survival. To learn more about this new type of high-level gear, check out this post from designer Linsey Murdock.

We can’t wait to see you in the Mists!

So the makers of ArenaNet will indeed create a progression, but without falling into the typical item Grind other MMOGs.

The developers want to make the introduction of new and challenging gameplay mechanics that buy guild wars 2 gold players can mitigate these mechanics with new items and in this way a personal progress for each player is provided. The first example will be the state of agony, the developers buy the November update of Guild Wars 2, the monsters in the dungeon of fog fractals. This debuff cut the player continuously hit points and can not be removed as usual.

Using infusions it will be possible to counteract this effect. Infusions are a new upgrade component of the mystical blacksmith, introduced in Guild Wars 2. It is given various offensive, defensive and Omni-infusions. The infusion slots are initially found only on the new rarity Ascended. This new item-level is located between exotic and legendary. The items for which you have no appreciation courses. This upgrade bonuses are at Ascended objects built-in.

GW2: Magical feeling has no effect on Mystical Forge and chests

The attribute magical feeling in Guild Wars 2 increases the probability of obtaining rare loot from defeated enemies. On the question of a gw2 gold player, whether magical feeling indeed only on the loot from enemies affecting or on the chests were made of Lead Designer Izzy Cartwright is now a definite answer.

As Cartwright confirmed in its reply to the magical feeling acts exclusively from killing enemies. The magical feeling here will be calculated when the enemy is killed, so it was not possible to kill a boss with normal armor and then switch to the Magical Armor with flair.

On chests are magical feeling WOULD however not enough. This would bring the already better loot than normal kills and we wanted to prevent the type of gameplay that gw2 gold players create after killing a boss first all their magical feeling armor before they open the chest.

In another contribution Cartwright also confirmed that magical feeling not affecting the Mystical Forge, but actually affecting only the loot when killing monsters.

They only work on creature kills, however chests have a better table then normal kills. We wanted to avoid the game play of killing a boss and then having to equip your whole Magic Find set before opening the chest.

So magic place is calculated from when the creature is killed so it's therefore not viable to use your normal gear set kill a boss then switch to magic find.

It does not work on the Mystic Falls, magic find only effects the loot generated from killing monsters. (This includes crafting materials, higher tiers of loot like rare & exotics ... etc ...)

Granted Zomoross hat is mighty and I'm sure he randomly gives more favor to those who are wearing a tin foil. In real life and are spinning in their chair while clicking the button forge he is evil like that.
