GW2: Magical feeling has no effect on Mystical Forge and chests
The attribute magical feeling in Guild Wars 2 increases the probability of obtaining rare loot from defeated enemies. On the question of a gw2 gold player, whether magical feeling indeed only on the loot from enemies affecting or on the chests were made of Lead Designer Izzy Cartwright is now a definite answer.
As Cartwright confirmed in its reply to the magical feeling acts exclusively from killing enemies. The magical feeling here will be calculated when the enemy is killed, so it was not possible to kill a boss with normal armor and then switch to the Magical Armor with flair.
On chests are magical feeling WOULD however not enough. This would bring the already better loot than normal kills and we wanted to prevent the type of gameplay that gw2 gold players create after killing a boss first all their magical feeling armor before they open the chest.
In another contribution Cartwright also confirmed that magical feeling not affecting the Mystical Forge, but actually affecting only the loot when killing monsters.
They only work on creature kills, however chests have a better table then normal kills. We wanted to avoid the game play of killing a boss and then having to equip your whole Magic Find set before opening the chest.
So magic place is calculated from when the creature is killed so it's therefore not viable to use your normal gear set kill a boss then switch to magic find.
It does not work on the Mystic Falls, magic find only effects the loot generated from killing monsters. (This includes crafting materials, higher tiers of loot like rare & exotics ... etc ...)
Granted Zomoross hat is mighty and I'm sure he randomly gives more favor to those who are wearing a tin foil. In real life and are spinning in their chair while clicking the button forge he is evil like that.
