Guild Wars 2's data & design in detail
MMO player & writer Ravious over at Kill 10 Rats knows the best way to ask the difficult questions. Questions that other journalists are afraid to ask. Questions like, "In the event you were omniscient with reference to all corollary Guild Wars 2 details (such as player emotion buy guild wars 2 gold, all chat such as voice chat, present snacks eaten, etc.), what crazy thing would you most like to know?"
Cheerfully for the Guild Wars 2 fanbase, he also asks a lot more practical questions, & he directed a lot of those questions at ArenaNet's Izzy Cartwright. He even got many answers! Cartwright spoke of how ArenaNet's ability to track players led to the implementation of precise dynamic events, meant to split up the player population in a map, which would trigger when there were too many players in an location. Another benefit of the team's info gathering is the ability to see where gw2 gold players are dying most commonly in order to adjust content difficulty as important. The economy is particularly dependent on player activity, and Cartwright says that the team keeps an immensely close eye on item fluctuations to make sure that a fairly wholesome stat is maintained.
Read the full interview over at KTR. If details, design, & programming really get your gears turning, think about checking out ArenaNet programmer Cameron Dunn's GDC talk on that subject.
